The exclamation “Eureka!” (Ancient Greek: εὕρηκα, romanized: héurēka) is attributed to the ancient scholar Archimedes from Syracuse. He reportedly proclaimed “Eureka! Eureka!” after he had stepped into a bath and noticed that the water level rose, whereupon he suddenly understood that the volume of water displaced must be equal to the volume of the part of his body he had submerged. He then realized that the volume of irregular objects could be measured with precision, a previously intractable problem. He is said to have been so eager to share his discovery that he leapt out of his bathtub and ran naked through the streets of Syracuse.

Ride with an Archaeologist to the Eurialo Castle
Cycle from the centre of Siracusa to the panoramic heights of Belvedere from where you enjoy a scenic view over the Grand Harbor of Siracusa where in 413 BC the battle between Athens and Syracuse took place. The battle that decided the fate of Athens in the Peloponnesian war.

Switchbacks to Sortino
This is one of the favorite rides of the locals – switchbacks and a long downhill! Soon after leaving busy Siracusa behind us we ride on quiet back roads, on gently rolling hills following the Anapo valley until we arrive at the switchbacks of the “Fusco” climb. Stop in Sortino, a pretty little baroque town for a break.

Ride along the coast on the cycle path “Rossana Maiorca” named after the free diving champion and daughter of the free diving pioneer Enzo Maiorca. Along the cycle path you can see remains of the Dionysian walls built by the tyrant Dionysius I. and considered the most extensive city walls in the Classical world.
Palazzolo Acreide and Cycle Path “Valle dell’Anapo”
Transfer to the cycle path of the Anapo Valley – 10 km of pure bliss surrounded by unexpected lush vegetation. The cycle path follows the river Anapo on a former railway line. A short climb into Palazzolo Acreide, a pretty baroque town of ancient origins. We stop for a typical Sicilian snack – the Arancina!
Countryside of Noto, Vendicari Nature Reserve and Marzamemi
This tour starts from the Noto area. We ride on quiet country roads among vegetable orchards, olive groves and vineyards until we arrive at the Nature Reserve of Vendicari, a popular stop for migratory birds.

Self-Guided Tours
If you would like to cycle at your own pace but don’t want to worry about finding the best routes, hotels and carrying luggage, then our self-guided tours are the right choice for you. We will prepare the route, book your accommodation and bring your luggage to the next hotel. In case you need us, we are just a phone call away. Although we do expect you to be able to change a flat tire on this type of tour.

Self-guided bike tour “A Taste of Sicily”
Discover the lesser-known corners of the province of Syracuse (Siracusa in Italian) on this weekend trip. Cycle through the unspoiled hilly landscape and enjoy the famous Sicilian cuisine. Immerse yourself in the millennia-old history of this fascinating island. With our brand new e-bikes from Bianchi, the climbs are easy to master. If you prefer to cycle without support, we also have the right bike for you.
Mount Etna and the North Coast
Ride along the slopes of Mount Etna – the highest active volcano of Europe. Visit the most famous town of Sicily, Taormina – an elegant tourism resort since the times of the travelers of the Grand Tour. We continue along the coast: from the straits of Messina to Milazzo, the gateway to the Eolian island and finish in Cefalù – a vibrant coastal town with a stunning Cathedral with Norman-Arab mosaics.

The Hidden gems of the south – Discover the lesser known corners of the province of Siracusa. Cycle through the unspoiled hills and enjoy the comfort of selected accommodations with charm and history.
The best rental bikes in town. High quality Fitness bikes, Gravel/Endurance bikes and E-Bikes with a reach for extended tours, even Mt. Etna. Iconic Bianchi bikes – designed and built in Italy. You can pick them up from our office in Siracusa or have them delivered to your accommodation with a surcharge based on the distance. All rentals include a repair kit (inner tube, levers and a pump) as well as a bike lock.
